During my 40th birthday celebrations in July, we were asked by some of our visiting friends the best places to go for a cuppa and something delicious to eat on Tamborine Mountain. Here is my top 5 Tamborine Mountain Cafes that you should absolutely check out if you are ever in our neck of the woods in the beautiful Scenic Rim, Queensland Australia.
I’m here at least once a week. It’s my favourite haunt by far. Relax outside under the branches of the enormous tree the café is built under. My go to, is the “Avo on Toast”, I like to throw in some bacon. And be warned, if you order a large coffee, the mugs are like a mini hot tub, they are HUGE. Beautiful location, lovely staff, delicious food and coffee, just a top spot.
2. Drift
In the Winter months, it gets cold on the mountain. I mean “woolie hat and wrap that scarf tight” cold. Drift does beautiful food, great coffee and when it’s cold, you can snuggle up next to their wood heater which sits against the wall in the main dining area. They also have a selection of amazing muffins that I just can’t seem to go past whenever I’m there… (the Berry and white chocolate one is to die for x )
3. Birchgrove Nursery and Garden Centre
Birchgrove, combines two of my great loves, coffee and plants. This sweet little nursery has a truly beautiful café set out the back under their ancient mulberry tree. Enjoy tea and niceties dining outside listening to the birds that love to visit the range of flowering plants they have for sale. I love to go for their filo parcels with a milkshake here. There’s something super special about pastry and flavoured milk when I’m enjoying it under the dappled light of the mulberry bush.
4. Tamborine Mountain Coffee Plantation
The Coffee Plantation has won awards for their coffee, tasting it, you’ll see why immediately. This is a lovely spot, great hospitality, beautiful surrounds, and their lunch is super special. The salmon is amazing. – seriously, try it.
Found on Main Street of North Tamborine, tucked away from the bustle of “Gallery Walk” which is the tourist epicentre of Tamborine Mountain, Spice of Life is a breath of fresh air. A cozy space with lots of nooks and crannies to squirrel away into and enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit or something more substantial.
