Fun Fact: The Waratah is the state flower of New South Wales, Australia.
Added bonus piece of trivia: my only stint in detention at school was for demolishing the first Waratah bloom, that blossomed on the school grounds at my primary school. A little friend at the time had told me you could peel out each individual stamen from the centre of the flower and suck out the nectar which is sweet.
Before I knew it, I had single handedly destroyed our state’s floral emblem…
But sitting in Mrs Hickings Office for a week of lunch times, was totally worth it… They’re delicious – Oh Yeah, don’t do this at home kids x
