Paper Art is my Passion

LET'S CREATE TOGETHER

Hi, I’m Carrie, the hands and mind behind Tambella Arts.

In 2017 my family moved from Brisbane to a small village located in South-East Queensland, Australia.

I left a corporate job, and through our rural lifestyle, I was delighted to reconnect with one of my great passions, the simplicity of ‘making’.

Paper Art by Carrie Birch from Tambella Arts

"I'm inspired by all manner of wild things, from my two young boys to the wildlife that plays in our backyard"

I’ve turned my hand to a number of creative disciplines, and have found joy in making paper art.

I use a combination of paper cutting and ‘quilling’ – which is an ancient artform used by renaissance monks to decorate sacred texts.  Paper is cut and shaped and applied onto a surface on it’s thin edge to create depth.

.The final effect is artwork that is both delicate and complex, made entirely with paper.

My home is nestled in South-East Queensland’s, Scenic Rim region.  We live on the doorstep of National Park which fosters tropical rainforest and is home to 1000’s of native species of fauna and 1000’s more of flora.

It’s a truly beautiful part of the world that i’m delighted to call ‘home’.

Our property was named “Tambella“, a combination of “Tamborine” – our local village and “Bella” Italian for beautiful. When i started making my art, the name only seemed fitting.

I’m passionate about creating, and my pieces have flown to their forever homes all over Australia and the world.

I’ve exhibited works in Brisbane galleries and locally on Tamborine Mountain and my work has been featured on the international paper art blog “All Things Paper”.

The next iteration of my passion is to share this art form with as many people as possible. My style of paper art is easy to learn, and truly such a relaxing pastime, allowing you to make truly lovely pieces of art that you can either display in your home or gift onto friends and family.

I teach workshops face to face at a number of locations in South-East Queensland, you can also learn the basic techniques I teach via my free downloadable tutorial. There is a supporting video on my YouTube Channel as well. x

You can buy my pieces via my Etsy Shop, I also love creating bespoke artworks, if you have something in mind you’d like me to create for you, please drop me an email at hello@tambellaarts.com.au
